Custom Builds

This is where the work moves beyond a standard website build. Apps, AI systems, automations, internal tools, and more tailored digital products built around the way the business actually works.

Thinking about a custom build?

A custom build is software built from scratch around your exact needs. Rather than adapting an off-the-shelf tool, it brings together AI, automations, and internal systems designed to fit your business, not the other way around.

When is a custom build the right answer?

When you’re doing something manually that shouldn’t be manual, when off-the-shelf software nearly fits but not quite, or when the thing you want customers to do doesn’t exist as a plugin. If a standard site or an existing tool will do the job, we’ll tell you. A custom build you didn’t need is an expensive way to solve a cheap problem.

More than a website, and it varies a lot. We scope these properly during Dig so you get a real number rather than a guess. If the numbers don’t justify it, that’s a useful thing to find out for a few hundred pounds instead of a few thousand.

Depends on the job. React front ends, Postgres and Supabase for data, integrations into whatever you already run: CRMs, calendars, email, WhatsApp, payment providers. We pick the boring, well-supported option unless there’s a good reason not to.

Where it does a specific job better than the alternative: sorting enquiries, drafting first-pass content, pulling structure out of messy information, handling repetitive review work. Not as a headline. If a simple rule or a form would work, that’s what you should have.

Not necessarily. Paid search works when the numbers stack up and there’s demand to buy. If organic and conversion improvements will get you further for the same money, we’ll say so. We’d rather not run ads than run ads that quietly lose money.

That’s normal and it’s what Dig phase of the growth system is for. Most of these start as “there’s got to be a better way to do this” rather than a spec. We turn that into something scoped, costed and worth building.
